A Red House Dream
Let’s learn from the man who made his dreams come true. High in the trees and low under the seas, his witnesses stand tall. Let these landmarks encourage us to believe in our own dreams.
The man who inspired the story of The Little Red House is Mikael Genberg – an artist and entrepreneur from Västerås. His life portrays everyone around him how to have faith in their dreams and the dreams of generations to come. It’s the little things that matters most. All he wants is a little red house with white corners to be placed on the moon. He already discussed the idea with Swedish National Space Board and they are fond of it. Now it is only a matter of time before the house will be planted way up in our galaxy.
This man is on fire and ready for take-off!
Mikael likes to reach for the stars. Literally. It started with his first abnormal accommodation project. A tree house built 13 meters above the ground quickly transformed into an idyllic hotel nestled in the gaint Oaktree in Vasaparken.
I can see Mikael as a little boy, walking the family dog in that park. He stops to look at the big oak tree in the middle of the park when the idea strikes him! He whispered in the dog’s ear: “Don’t tell anyone yet, but I want to put a little red house up in that 13-meter high tree.” I guess the dog thought he was a bit unrealistic.
But the dream stayed with Mikael, and later it developed into a successful little hotel.
Mikael’s next step was to go deep down into the ocean and dock his underwater hotel to a reef inside the blue giant. The product? A proud red house floating on the surface, inviting all to come and join in the adventure of sleeping under the sea. Who would have thought something like this would ever be possible? Mikael did.
When you believe in your dreams, they will start coming true.
Today I challenge you to share your dreams with those around you. Don’t let their comments or criticism influence you negatively. Rather make it a challenge to prove them wrong. Conjure up ideas that will astonish them!
Mikael was not shy of his dreams. He placed it high in the oak trees for all to view and enjoy. You too, can be like Mikael! Go out there and show it to the world!
Dreams never has boundaries. If we compromise our dreams, we downgrade them. And after that, they will never be able to reach their full potential.
Think about it. What if Mikael agreed with the others that placing a house on the moon was impossible and decided to place it on the rooftop? That would never be as special as the original dream, right? Don’t try to make your dreams fit reality – that will take away their magic.
We can all learn a lesson from this Swedish dreamer – the lesson that we have learn’t is that you should dream every dream with all your heart. I cannot wait to see the next dream entering reality. Maybe, just maybe, it could be yours…
So now, you have to decide for yourself. Do you want to be like Mikael and push through to make your dream a reality? Or do you want to be like the teacher – an obstacle in the way of other dreamers.
I wish all of you a big Red-House-Dream!
